Coronavirus – event cancellations

County Track and Field Championships The Warwickshire County Championships were due to take place on 30th/31st of May this year and although that is a few weeks away yet the Championships cannot take place then. We have postponed the event rather than cancelled it, in the hope that it can be re-scheduled for later in the season however we cannot say when as yet.

County Open Graded MeetingsWe had planned to start this seasons Open Graded Meetings in May but the first one cannot happen now and has been cancelled. In the hope that the virus situation will improve we have reserved these dates for later Open Graded events – 1st July, 5th August, 19th August, 2nd September. These events are “enter on the night” but do NOT go unless there is definite confirmation that they will happen on this web site.

Warwickshire Road Race LeagueThree of the Warwickshire Road Race League races have been cancelled and other race promoters are continually reviewing the situation. We will review the points scoring conditions when the number of races that will run becomes clearer.

SummaryWe dont know when the situation will improve but it is certain that there will be a backlog of League, Championship and other Open meetings who will all be keen to provide athletes with competition opportunities. We will continually review the situation and keep you informed of developments through the County web site, e-mails to Clubs and Facebook. Thank you for your understanding.

2020 Inter County XC at Prestwold

Well done and a big thank you to all of the athletes who represented Warwickshire at the Inter County Cross Country Championships which were held at Prestwold on Saturday 7th March 2020. A huge thank you also to the team managers without whom it would not be possible. Stuart Albut, Cath Muth, Nick Price, Simon Kinson, Brian Higson, Robert Pinton and Eddie Cockayne. And finally thank you also to Becky Freeman, Bob Carey and Bridget Urch for their vital support.

Full Warwickshire results are in the Results pages.

The photo shows the Senior Women who achieved the best Warwickshire team performance of 10th. Leading the team charge was Polly Keen who has had a fine cross country season she was 1st scorer in 38th. Next was Hannah Thorne a lady who I believe was making her debut for the senior team and she finished 81st. Eleanor Fowler has not had an easy winter but showed great determination to finish 100th. Another debut runner Natalie Bhangal, 113th must have had a great tussle with her team mate the ever smiling Rachel Gifford, 114th  who made a big improvement from last year. Closing the scoring was  Katherine Hodgson in 127th . We were well supported by Marie Ann Mathews in 153rd and Imogen Peck 160th. Sadly Megan Rothman had to withdraw having not recovered from illness sufficiently.
