Some news from Warwickshire County AA
1. New Hon Sec
2. Next Cross Country Championships
3. The Warwickshire Road Race League
Please pass on this information to your Club members as appropriate.

1. New Hon Sec
I am pleased to announce that Eric Fowler of Nuneaton Harriers has been appointed to the position of Honorary Secretary of WCAA. Eric takes over from Keith Richards who continues to be involved with WCAA and the sport in the wider sense.
2. Next Cross Country Championships
Warwickshire County AA is pleased to announce that the next County Cross Country Championships will be held on 10th December 2022 at Welkin Farm, Easenhall. This is a new venue on a genuine cross country course and we very much appreciate the support of the landowner, Mr John Lea, for making it possible. More details will follow in due course but the event will be very similar to previous Championships. We will once again combine our Championships with that of Worcestershire and the timetable will be similar to previous years. Please note two very important changes. Firstly, we have moved from the traditional date in January to early December. Secondly, the Senior Women will run 7k rather than 6k.
3. The Warwickshire Road Race League
The remaining races in the League are:-
Stratford Summer 6 on Saturday 20th August at 18.00
The Kenilworth Half Marathon on 11th September
The Balsall Common 10k on 18th September
The Rugby 10 mile race on 9th October. The entry site for the Rugby 10 is now OPEN. Go to this link https://www.resultsbase.net/event/6393

Championships round up

Firstly, and most importantly, a big thank you to all of the technical officials and volunteers who made the event possible and such a success. Also to the Nick Wilson and his stadium staff and all of the Nuneaton Harriers volunteers from refreshments to registration and results.

The results are now on Power of 10 and the athletes profiles have been updated. If you spot my deliberate mistake in there somewhere please let me know.

The Warwick Vase for the best Club overall was retained by Stratford Upon Avon AC who first won it in 2016 and have kept it ever since. They were pushed hard by Birchfield Harriers, Coventry Godiva Harriers and Rugby & Northampton AC.

The Jack Hartley Trophy for the best individual performance goes to Craig Murch of Birchfield Harriers for his hammer throw of 70.52 Craig has won the Jack Hartley trophy a remarkable 5 times now. The photo for this post features Craig.

The Coronation Cup for the best performance over 1500m goes to Noah Homer of Birchfield Harriers who reduced the County record considerably in that event – and also in the 800m so an exceptional weekend by him.

We also recognise the best performances we look at each age group but to qualify for an award the performance must be a AAA grade 1. You can imagine that comparing a sprint with a distance race, a jump or a throw is quite difficult and subjective.

The best performances in each age group have been judged as : –
U13 Boys
Noah Homer of Birchfield Harriers for his 1500m in 4.33.99
honourable mention for Charlie Cook

U15 Boys
Andre Onyekwe of the Leamington Athletics Academy for his high jump of 1.88m
honourable mentions for Kyle Enticott and Robbie Dale

U17 Men
Rusciano Thomas-Riley of Coventry Godiva Harriers for his 100m in 11.03

U20 Men
Stephen Baffour of Coventry Godiva Harriers for his 200m in 21.95

Senior Men
Craig Murch of Birchfield Harriers for his hammer throw of 70.52
honourable mention for Muslim Habib

U13 Girls
Scarlet Dawson of Stratford Upon Avon AC for her 200m sprint in 28.12

U15 Girls
Olivia Monk of Rugby and Northampton AC for her 200m in 26.12
honourable mention for Isabelle Knight

U17 Women
Camiah Bennett of Coventry Godiva Harriers for her 300m in 40.58

U20 Women – no award
Senior Women – no award
